Anyway i gt to thank my cousin for the tix where she reserved for mi at the Padang Grandstand. Really xcited to be part of the history in world racing sport n its the 1st nite race to b held on the street which were brightly lit by 1500 floodlights. The race was fantastic n exhilarating with all the speed n crashes on the streets. Below r some of the photos a friend of mine(journalist photographer) n my cousin took at the event. The Block is the fifth studio album by New Kids on the Block. The album will be released on September 2, 2008, along with a 2 Disc Deluxe Edition. The first official single off the album is "Summertime" and the song was released on May 13, 2008. The second official single titled "Single" featuring Ne-Yo and the song was released on August 12, 2008

In May 2008, the group released "Summertime", as a download single on various online digital music services. They also posted the tune on their MySpace page. The new album, according to Billboard magazine, was not expected until the fall.

The group performed a medley of their hits and their new song "Summertime" live on Today on May 16, 2008. The performance attracted one of the biggest crowds, some 4,000 people, in the show's concert series history.

The group's reunion tour is scheduled to begin at Toronto's Air Canada Centre on September 18, 2008. They will be touring in the US with Natasha Bedingfield. There are seven concerts scheduled for Canada and forty-one in the US.

Atkins has won an international design competition to design a five-star resort hotel set within a beautiful water-filled quarry in the Songjiang district close to Shanghai in China. Its stunning concept designs inspired by the natural water and landscape features of the quarry captured the imagination of judges to quash competition from two other international firms. The innovative design of the 400-bed resort hotel stands two levels higher than the rock face of the 100 metre deep quarry and includes underwater public areas and guestrooms. It will incorporate conference facilities for up to 1,000 people, a banqueting centre, restaurants, cafés and sports facilities. Sustainability is integral to the design ranging from using green roofing for the structures above the ground level to geothermal energy extraction. An aquatic theme runs through the design both visually and functionally. Two underwater levels will house a restaurant and guestrooms facing a ten-metre deep aquarium. The lowest level of the hotel will contain a leisure complex with a swimming pool and water-based sports. An extreme sports centre for activities such as rock climbing and bungee jumping will be cantilevered over the quarry and accessed by special lifts from the water level of the hotel.

Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends

Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (usually called Viva la Vida) is the fourth studio album by English alternative rock band Coldplay. It is scheduled to be released on 12 June 2008 in the UK and 17 June 2008 in North America. The project is largely produced by Brian Eno. Coldplay have released two singles from the record, "Violet Hill" and "Viva la Vida".

Viva la Vida (Spanish for Live Life) takes its name from a painting by Frida Kahlo, the acclaimed 20th century Mexican artist. The album's artwork features the painting Liberty Leading the People (La Liberté guidant le peuple) by French painter Eugène Delacroix, commemorating the July Revolution of 1830.

Bye Bye" is a song co-written by American singer Mariah Carey, Johnta Austin and Stargate for Carey's eleventh studio album, E=MC², and is the second single from the album. The single was produced by Carey and Stargate.

MTV stated that although the song appears to be about her deceased father, Carey "extends this song about death to be for anybody 'who just lost somebody'". Carey believed that by making "Bye Bye" more open, "everybody could kind of be healed by the song and have their own experience listening to it
In its review of the song, VH1 said that the song appears to be too basic for an artist like Carey, and that it was like "insurance — in case nothing else is a hit, here's a sure-shot". In contrast, Rap-Up.com stated that "Bye Bye" was "a song everyone can relate to and it will get some listeners teary-eyed."; it also stated that the single would "probably be Mariah's 19th #1". Similarly, Bill Lamb from About.com stated that although "[n]othing is ever a sure bet to be a #1 hit, ["Bye Bye"] is about as close as it gets"; he also stated that the song has "universal appeal". Bob Burke from FMQB.com stated that the single was "another gem with multi-format hit potential" and that the single was "destined to be her nineteenth #1 hit."

"Bye Bye" debuted at #23 on the Billboard Hot 100 as the "Hot Shot Debut" (Issue Date: May 3).

Seether--Broken

"Broken" is a song by post-grunge band Seether with Amy Lee of Evanescence. The original acoustic version is the 12th track on Seether's debut album Disclaimer. It was then re-recorded with Amy Lee, the future girlfriend of Seether vocalist Shaun Morgan, for The Punisher: The Album in March 2004. This more powerful version includes electric guitar and violins. This song peaked at number twenty on the Billboard Hot 100.
The re-recorded version's inclusion in the film's trailers, not to mention heavy airplay at the time of its release, made it one of the most popular songs Seether has ever recorded. This led to the Disclaimer II re-release in June which includes both versions of "Broken." Although it was recorded with Lee, the song had been written long before Morgan and Lee were dating.
The Nigel Dick-directed music video has Morgan sitting in a car playing an acoustic guitar and Lee wandering around a ruined landscape with black angel wings. It was also used for the single album art. Shortly after the song was recorded, the two split up.

Gotta giv my shout out to Emile, thanking her for the complimentary tix to the National Museum. Although it was kinda last min, i was deperately looking for arty funky khakis. Therefore i narrowed down to Alvin, Gabe n Shawn. Shawn was bz wit his exams while alvin nt so keen, so ended up goin wit Gabe.
Its been 12 years since the last time i step into the Singapore National Museum, and was amazed how the whole place was refurbished. Although some part of the museum architecture still feels a lil nostalgic but they renovated the place to giv the old dame a more modernised image.

Anyway it was really good exhibits and learn alot from greek mythology. Here are the pix tt was taken frm my hp.

In comparison with earlier albums, a number of collaborators have been rumoured to have produced tracks for Hard Candy. Involvement varies from producing, songwriting, and vocals.

The following were speculated to be collaborating on the project: Danja, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Felix Da Housecat, Swizz Beatz, Sean Garrett, Akon, Kanye West and Mark Stent.

Following months of speculation, the only officially confirmed vocal collaborations are that between Madonna and guest artists Justin Timberlake and Pharrel Williams, along with production credits from Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrel Williams, Nate "Danja" Hills and of course co-production from Madonna herself

The album is expected to have an overall hip-hop feel, whilst remaining a Pop/Dance record at heart. Stuart Price, the producer of Madonna's last studio album, 2005's Confessions on a Dance Floor, described the new album as moving in an "urban" direction. The Sun quoted a source as saying: “It’s not all hip-hop though, there are a lot of producers from a lot of genres in there. It could be her most ambitious project yet.”

Timbaland stated in an interview: "It's kinda like 'Holiday' with an R&B groove." In an interview for industry magazine Hollywood Daily People, Justin Timberlake noted: "It’s an R&B/pop/dance record, but it’s still Madonna... A couple of times I pushed her in a direction where it took a minute before we saw eye to eye. Her approach was, 'Well, I just haven’t done that' and I was like, 'Yeah, that’s why you should do it'.”

The album artwork, a photograph by long-time collaborator Steven Klein, depicts Madonna as a boxer, wearing a belt carrying the slogans "Give It To Me",

It was produced by Carey and Tricky Stewart. The song was chosen as the lead single of the album during a vote with producer L.A. Reid and staff in Island Records. World 1st Hexagonal Residential Project in Singapore

CapitaLand Residential, a leading developer in Asia, and its partners have commissioned the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) to design a large-scale residential development in Singapore.

The project will be located on an expansive 8 hectare site bounded by the Ayer Rajah Expressway and Alexandra Road, in a central position between the National University and downtown Singapore. With 170,000 m2 of built floor area, the development will provide over 1,000 apartment units of varying sizes with extensive outdoor spaces and landscaping.

Instead of creating a cluster of isolated, vertical towers – the default typology of residential developments in Singapore – the design explores a dramatically different approach to the issues and challenges of living and social space.

32 apartment blocks, each six-stories tall, are stacked in a hexagonal arrangement to form six large-scale permeable courtyards. The interlocking volumes form the topography of a “vertical village” with cascading sky gardens and private roof terraces vertically extending the landscape of the courtyards. Extensive communal facilities which are embedded in the lush vegetation offer multiple opportunities for social interaction in a natural environment. While maintaining the privacy of the individual apartment units through generous spacing of the building blocks and unobstructed views, the horizontal and interconnected volumes create an explicitly social network of outdoor spaces within the green terrain.

The site completes a green belt that stretches between Kent Ridge, Telok Blangah and Mount Faber Parks. The stacked volumetric relationship of the apartment blocks extends the landscape and forms a mount/hill that relates to the surrounding topography.

Beyond the extensive presence of nature and collective space, the project will be designed to respond carefully to the tropical climate and address issues of sustainability through incorporating multiple features of energy-saving technologies.

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to create such an innovative project in partnership with OMA. The design expands our progressive ambition and enables us to add a radically new concept to environmentally-conscious living in Singapore” says CapitaLand Residential Singapore Chief Executive Officer, Patricia Chia.

“This project directly addresses concerns of shared space and community in a contemporary society” says Ole Scheeren, Partner of OMA and designer of the project. "It simultaneously responds to issues of privacy and individuality as well as to social and communal needs by offering multiple types of indoor and outdoor spaces specific to the tropical context”.

The project is lead by Ole Scheeren, Director of OMA Beijing, together with Eric Chang, Associate. Ole Scheeren is responsible for the office’s work across Asia, including the 575,000 m2 CCTV headquarters and TVCC cultural center currently under construction in Beijing, and The Scotts Tower in Singapore. Previous work includes the Prada epicenter stores in New York and Los Angeles.

I was so BZ wit my work for the biggest event in my company "S1000 & SME500 Award Gala Dinner" tt was held in Shangri La Orchard Hotel on 18 Jan 08. Spent $69 on a black coat which was all worth it. Got to rub shoulders and mingle around wit Directors, CEOs, frm HSBC, Singtel, SIA, Starhub, Hp, etc.... It was an enjoyable and successful event.
Went on to attend a wedding on 26 Jan 08 in KL.
Bcoz of the event which takes up most of my time and unable to blog. But no worry ill try to blog as often as i can. Since CNY is around the corner, i will like to wish all my supporter GONG HEI FATT CHOY and HUAT AH!!!!

Bubbly - Colbie Caillat

"Bubbly" is a pop/folk-pop/acoustic song written by American singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat and Jason Reeves for Caillat's debut album, Coco (2007). First released for free on iTunes as a single of the week, it was then released as the album's lead single in May 2007, the song was produced by Colbie's father, Ken Caillat. An independent property developer has unveiled plans to change the face of the Bugis heartland with an art-inspired retail-entertainment mall scheduled to open by the end of next year.

Called Iluma (picture), a play on the theme of light and illumination, the mall looks set to become an icon for the Bugis area. It aims to be different with its unconventional architecture of a curved frontage against a rectilinear block. A light-media wall will envelop the convex part of the façade while brightly-lit billboards not unlike those at New York's Times Square will scatter across its flatter sides.

To be built at a cost of $160 million, the mall is owned and managed by Jack Investment, which won the URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) tender to develop the 8921-sq-m site. Construction has started on the plot beside Bugis Village, at the junction of Middle Road and Queen Street.

Iluma has a net-lettable area of 191,580 sq ft, with space for more than 150 shops and 325 car park lots. Its proximity to arts venues and tertiary institutions has inspired the mall's concept — which is an arts and cultural meeting place targeting "yuppies" and "sophisticates", said Jack Investment's project director Lim Swee Teck.

The seven-level mall will accommodate a mix of retail and entertainment outlets, with an emphasis on performing and exhibition space.Ms Sherene Sng, retail head of Knight Frank, which is responsible for sourcing tenants, said names of anchor tenants will be revealed at a later date. She said rental for the space will average between $10 to $30 psf.

Yeah another hang out for us youth(mayb not me). Bugis is oredi so packed every weekend, can't imagine the huge crowd aft tis is built. From the look at the renders it looks quite stylo milo hopefully it wont disappoint us when the construction is done

Singapore Sports Hub Proposals

The Sports Hub will be an integrated lifestyle venue offering retail and commercial facilties and will replace the 34 year old National Stadium as the nerve center for Singapore sports. The complex will include 55,000 seater stadium with a retractable roof, an indoor aquatic centre, a public watersport centre and a multi purpose arena costing around $650 to $800 million

The three bidders for the Singapore Sports Hub have revealed their designs for a fully-integrated sports centre to be built on the current National Stadium site. The three bidders Alpine Mayreder, Singapore Gold and the Singapore Sports Hub Group took turns to present their proposals which will include the development of recreational and leisure hubs.

Alphine Consortium

The proposal by Alpine is for a stadium that's wrapped with a translucent plastic fabric which provides a canvas for different lighting effects at night along with an urban beach and a Viewing Tower. The fabric called PTFE, which has been used widely around the world is said to be self-cleaning as well as durable under any condition, was inspired by gift wrapping, as the design is meant as a present to Singapore. A visitors' centre is situated in he south complete with a viewing tower. It also propose a lifestyle and sports hypermarket, an organic supermarket, commercial gymnasium and 6 screen cineplex. A bridge will link the tower with the mainland which will make people feel like they are walking on water.

IMO: Kinda like the stadium which look a lot like Alliance Stadium in Germany but the colour is so bland and it doesnt suit the surrounding of the other building like the Singapore Indoor Stadum. From far it does look like a round tissue box Another plus point is how they incorporated the sports hub with a beach which will be way cool to held a beach vollyball tournament there instead of Sentosa. As for the tower, might as well scrap tt idea. Concept=B, Stadium Design=C

As for the Singapore Sports Hub Group, it's proposing a dome-shaped design that uses lightweight material and features air conditioning and even a white water rafting facility. Mr Ludwig Reichhold, Managing Director of Dragages Singapore Pte Ltd, the design and build contractor, said their biggest selling point is their program which promises to be a thriving and sustainable integrated sports, entertainment and healthy lifestyle hub. “You can design a very nice stadium but if it is not suitable for what you want to do, it won’t be useful. We have many cities where stadiums are built for the Olympic games or other such events but it is empty after that. So we want to avoid this and we think we have achieved that by working as a team involving the designers, sporting people and the retailers to make one integrated facility,” said Mr Reichhold. The stadium which will blend with the surrounding Indoor Stadium, promises to be energy-saving yet cool for spectators as the cooling systems will be supplied from under the seats of spectators with fan assisted breezes. By having a system that cools individual seats,the entire space or volume isn't being cooled, just the zone immediately around where the person is sitting. By doing this,a tenth of the energy that's typically used in an arena is consumed. The covered roof will allow for the projection of images similiar to that of a giant IMAX screen. It also propose go-karting and white water rafting facilities
IMO: I quite like the design of the stadium, its safe and modern and for a far distance you can see the dome shape stadium. And i like how they use modern and environmental friendly technologies to cool the stadium. Another interesting thing is tt they propose a man-made white water rafting facilities. The SingaporeGold Consortium which had shown its design in March this year for a stadium shaped like a horse-shoe featuring a retractable field and roof, has now incorporated a water sports centre. "The inclusion of the new water sports centre enhances our design and allows for a greater range of sporting events and programmes never before possible in Singapore, creating year-round buzz and ensuring Sports Hub becomes a vibrant destination in its own right" said Mark Adams, senior vice-president of IMG in Singapore, which is a key member of the SingaporeGold consortium. There are also plans for the recreation centre to provide more than just sports but community attractions as well that will offer something for everyone. A 41 square metre space has been set aside for a combination of sports mega stores, themed retail and dining outlets, night markets, a sports hotel and even a themed sports bar. It will be the world 1st waterfront stadium together with a 25m wide, 2.6km long waterfront sport quay
IMO: A lot of my colleagues said tt the deign of tis stadium looks like a toilet bowl when they retract the roof. But i must say tt the design is pretty cool especially if we have national day parade, we can see the skyline of the city(therefore they can start demolishing the ugly floating platform). Heard tt theres a surprise in the stadium which have been causing a buzz in march. In was in the news in March that the field can be removed and water from the kallang river will be flowing into the stadium. But one thing i dislike about the stadium is the ugly colour and hope they can reconsider it. Beside the stadium the rest are pretty boring Concept=C, Stadium Design= B

Commercial partners have also been lined up to operate facilities that could include a world-first virtual sporting reality centre, an extreme sports zone, and a Sports Museum. With the inclusion of the water sports centre, the Sports Hub which has ambitions to attract mega sporting events to Singapore, like the 2018 Asiad, promises to attract a range of world-class sporting and entertainment events to one location.
The 35 hectare facility at Kallang is due to be completed in 2011, and will be the world's first large-scale integrated land and sea sports facility. The hub will transform the Kallang site's limited water frontage into a 2.6 kilometre waterfront promenade lined with retail, food and beverage outlets, outdoor plazas, and landscaped gardens. The decision on the winning proposal will be made in late January next year
