Spin of the Day

Bubbly - Colbie Caillat

"Bubbly" is a pop/folk-pop/acoustic song written by American singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat and Jason Reeves for Caillat's debut album, Coco (2007). First released for free on iTunes as a single of the week, it was then released as the album's lead single in May 2007, the song was produced by Colbie's father, Ken Caillat. After going mainstream, the song was altered slightly. Drums were added in the background, and there was a minor change to the words.

The song has enjoyed a large amount of success in New Zealand, where the single has reached number six on the composite singles chart; it has also reached number one on the radio airplay chart and has stayed there for three consecutive weeks. On the issue date of October 6, 2007, "Bubbly" rocketed number sixteen to number ten on the Billboard Hot 100, later ascending to number five where it was locked for seven weeks. The song eventually reached number one on iTunes top 100 selling songs on October 16. "Bubbly" is gaining popularity in Canada as well, as radio stations are following the lead of Montreal's CJFM-FM, which was the first Canadian radio station to play the song.
