Singapore National Stadium

Plans have been made to demolish the stadium and build a multi-purpose, 35.6ha Sports Hub in its place. Construction has begun and is expected to be complete in mid 2010. Currently 3 consortium are bidding for tis project Alpine Mayreder, Singapore Sports Hub and Singapore Gold consortiums.

It is proposed that the Sports Hub will comprise the following facilities:
1: New 55,000 capacity National Stadium including a fully retractable roof over the pitch area;
2: Existing 12,000 capacity Singapore Indoor Stadium structure and operation;
3: New 3,000 capacity Multi-Purpose Indoor Arena cum Sports Centre;
4: New 6,000 capacity (3,000 perm & 3,000 temp) Indoor Aquatic Centre cum Water Leisure Centre; and
5: Supporting Leisure and Commercial development opportunities
