2008 Olympic Torch

465days to The 2008 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, will be held in Beijing, China from August 8, 2008 through August 24, 2008. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at 08:08pm and 08 seconds. The motto of the Games is "One World, One Dream."
2008 Olympic Torch

The Olympic Torch is based on traditional scrolls and uses a traditional Chinese design known as "Lucky Cloud". The torch is designed to remain lit in 65 kilometer-an-hour winds, and in rain of up to 50 millimeters-an-hour

The design of the Torch takes advantage of Chinese artistic heritage and technological expertise. The design of the aluminum torch features traditional scrolls and "Lucky Cloud". It stands 72 centimeters high and weighs 985 grams.

The Torch incorporates technological innovations to be able to remain lit in winds of up to 65 kilometers-an-hour and lit in rain of up to 50 millimeters-an-hour. And the torch can keep burning for 15 minutes. Other technological advancements prevent color discoloration and corrosion around the cone from which the Flame burns. The Torch construction is also environmentally-conscious. The materials are recyclable, and the propane fuel meets environmental requirements.

"The Beijing Olympic Torch boasts both distinctive Chinese cultural features, and technical excellence and sophisticated materials. It will carry the friendship that Chinese people extend to the world and the Olympic spirit to the five continents and to the peak of Mt. Qomolangma," said BOCOG President Liu Qi.

"The torch and the Olympic Flame are symbols which embody the Olympic Values of excellence, respect and friendship. They inspire us to be the best we can be in all that we do," added IOC President Jacques Rogge. "The magnificent design of the torch for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay will also add a very unique Chinese flavour to the relay, as the 'Clouds of Promise' carry the Beijing Games' message to the world."

The Torch casting was designed by the Lenovo Creative Centre and the burning system inside the Torch was designed by China Aerospace Science and Industry Group.
2008 Olympic Torch Relay

The 2008 Olympic Torch Relay is planned to take place from March 25 to August 8, 2008, prior to the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. Plans for the relay were announced on April 26, 2007, in Beijing, China. The relay, with the theme "Journey of Harmony", will last 130 days and carry the torch 137,000 km (85,100 mi.) - the longest distance of any Olympic torch relay. After being lit in Olympia, Greece, the torch will travel to the Panathinaiko Stadium in Athens, and then to Beijing, arriving on March 31. From Beijing, the torch will follow a route passing through six continents. The torch will visit cities on the Silk Road, symbolizing ancient links between China and the rest of the world. The relay will also include an attempt to carry the flame to the top of Mount Everest

Penang 2nd Bridge completion date JAN 2011

BATU KAWAN: The RM3 billion Penang Second Bridge, one of three main projects identified in the 9th Malaysia Plan for Penang, will be open to traffic by January 2011.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he wanted everyone involved in the project to ensure there were no delays in its implementation.

"I want this bridge to be built on time. The UEM Group has also made this promise to me and I want it to be fulfilled. "I don't want excuses such as sub contractors not delivering or anything else to delay the project," he said, adding efforts must also be made to ensure there were no cost over-runs.

Abdullah also directed Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon to fast-track all approvals relating to the project.

He said this would prevent additional costs to the project. "I am stressing this as we have planned the project meticulously and there should be no hiccups in its implementation," he added.

He was speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the 24km bridge which will link Batu Maung on the island and Batu Kawan on the mainland. The Batu Kawan-Batu Maung alignment will link motorists to the North-South Expressway on the mainland and the Bayan Lepas Highway on Penang island.

My point of view: It looks kinda ugly especially the two platform in the middle of the bridge. Sorry to say but it looks like 2 testicles balls. But anyway its good to hav another bridge to ease the traffic over @ the original Penang Bridge

Cho Seung-Hui chilling video message sent to NBC

My condolence to the Vaginia Tech students who were killed on tue. Saw tis very disturbing video clip of Cho Seung-Hui confession on the news. Although i can't really figure out wat he was saying but more or less tis is wat he said in the video

"This is it. This is where it all ends," "What a life it was. Some life."

"You had a hundred billion chances and ways to have avoided today,"

"But you decided to spill my blood. You forced me into a corner and gave me only one option. The decision was yours. Now you have blood on your hands that will never wash off."

"Your Mercedes wasn't enough, you brats," "Your golden necklaces weren't enough, you snobs. Your trust funds wasn't enough. Your vodka and cognac wasn't enough. All your debaucheries weren't enough. Those weren't enough to fulfill your hedonistic needs. You had everything."

"You have vandalized my heart, raped my soul and torched my conscience," "You thought it was one pathetic boy's life you were extinguishing. Thanks to you, I die like Jesus Christ, to inspire generations of the weak and the defenseless people."

According to his words, i can see that he hav gone through lots of tough time in his hometown. It seems that he had gone through discrimination and humiliation frm people around him which leave him a scar in his memory and reacted tis volatile violent way. especially the last phrase it kinda stated that he was picked on or otherwise hurt before so tis might be sum kinda revenge.

People in the States might hate him but to mi i kinda pity him. I kinda feel how he feels coz i used to be like him being bullied and picked on by my ex-classmates back in my school days. But thank god i manage to be strong and change the perpective of my ex-classmates

Sangina gt booted out

At Last he was voted out of the American Idol
Simply juz cant stand watching him safely got through every result show
no talent but luv to create buzz on himself
Yest his performance of "Let’s give them something to talk" was the worst boring performing song in yesterday edition. Every item he perform he will have a transformation, frm Paula Abdul rebonding hair lookalike to Medusa Hair to the notorious PONYHAWK. Tis time round there is no shocking transformation, he had his usual fuzzy hair but was tied wit a red bandana WAT A BOO BOO

Do You Know--Enrique Iglesias

Iglesias will release his new album Insomniac on June 15, 2007. The first single will be, "Do You Know." I rather call it the PING PONG SONG, coz the introduction beat of the song is the sound from the ping pong ball. Rather catchy dancey pop sound but sadly no influence of latin flavor here. Tis single is pretty similiar to his non latin flavour song like "i'm not in love." Hopefully his new album will throw in latin song like "Bailamos "

Construction of a 600-foot observation wheel is being planned at a 200-acre development called the Villages of Bear Creek in Euless. The 600-foot tall high-tech attraction to be built by Voyager of Las Vegas, will have the capacity of 7.5 million guests per year with an average individual ride ticket of $18, according to Voyager.
Each wheel consists of 32 sky cruisers seating 20 passengers and making a complete revolution every 27 minutes. Each sky cruiser consists of its own galley and bathroom.
This new concept surpasses that of the London Eye Ferris Wheel, which has approximately 4 million riders per year, according to Voyager.

7)Shanghai Kiss
British architecture firms Alsop and Arup are to create a landmark structure to attract visitors to the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Located on the Puxi side of the Huangpu River, the 250 m tall towering "Shanghai Kiss” will offer panoramic views over the historic Bund and Pudong. Alsop Director Stephen Pimbley outlines the project, “The sculptural tower is set to rotate every 4 hours whilst a series of visitor pods travel up and around the legs offering unique and exciting views which will be forever changing as the kiss rotates and as the city of Shanghai evolves.”
If built, the Ferris wheel will surpass the London Eye as the world's largest will be able to carry 1,100 passengers at once

Reaching 45 storeys high, it will consist of a wheel with a 150 metre diameter built over a three-storey terminal building for a total height of around 165 metres, exceeding the current largest wheel, The Star of Nanchang, by 3 metres. The wheel will feature 28 air-conditioned capsules with a floor area of 26 square metres and capable of holding 30 passengers each. The constant rotation of the wheel will mean a complete trip lasting an estimated 37 minutes, and has a design capacity of up to 7.3 million passengers a year
